摘要
Sodium alginate, a marine polysaccharide extracted from the brown algae was successfully blended with polyvinyl alcohol, a synthetic biocompatible polymer using water-ethanol mixture and nanofibres were successfully prepared by electrospinning. Prepared fibres were characterized using various modern techniques to check the perfection of blending as well as the properties of the nanofibres prepared. Greater fraction of the fibres produced has a diameter of 64 nm which makes it extra fine nanofibres. SA-PVA ultrafine nanofibres produced using green solvents can find wide applications in dye and heavy metal removal, controlled drug delivery, wound dressing, enzyme immobilization and so on.
