Student e-Learning Experience: A Nexus among e-Learning Quality, Student Engagement and Resulting Satisfaction

Inspired by the Higher Education Performance Model- HEdPERF and motivated by the limited empirical evidence on e-learning student experience, this study examines the nexus between e-learning quality and the resulting student satisfaction, with an emphasis on the mediating effect of student engagement in the context of Jordanian private universities. To this end, a dataset of 198 valid questionnaires, collected from a convenient sample of private universities’ students, using a self – administered questionnaire survey and analyzed using smart PLS was considered to report the research findings. The results of hypothesis testing revealed that student satisfaction is significantly predicted by e-learning quality dimensions and a mediating role for student engagement on this effect was also found. The results provide insights to policy makers in higher education institutions on how to utilize e-learning quality to enrich student experience. Discussion, conclusion, and areas of future work are also explored.
