Performance Optimization of Excited Outer Rotor Segmented-FSPM Motor Based on Taguchi Method

摘要
This study presents a new configuration of 12/8 segmented flux switching permanent magnet motor with excited outer rotor (EOR-SFSPM). The segmented rotor structure weighs less than conventional toothed rotor machines. Eight magnets with the same polarity are located in the middle of the rotor segments. Using rotor excited structure increases the winding space as well as the torque density and also reduces the risk of magnetic saturation in the stator compared to conventional FSPMs which all excitation sources are located on the stator. Aiming to improve electromagnetic performance of proposed topology, the Taguchi method is applied. Finally, optimal model is validated through FE analysis and performance characteristics are compared with initial design. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of Taguchi design of experiments method.
