摘要

•Model predictive control for controlling hot metal temperature (HMT) was developed.•Eight-hour-ahead HMT is predicted by two-dimensional (2D) transient model.•Automatic HMT control system was implemented in a real plant.•Variance of HMT was successfully reduced by 1.6 °C by the developed control system.
