Influence on electrical properties of pristine bulk Bi 2 Se 3 compound by substitutional doping of ‘In’

In recent time, energy crisis is an immerging issue globally and hence it needs to be resolved by any of the clean energy alternative as an immediate effect. Conversion of heat or thermal energy into electrical energy can be useful solution as sustainable energy source for future needs. Thermoelectric materials play vital role in the development of green energy technologies as an alternative source of the fossil fuels. In this framework, researcher in the development of thermoelectric materials is in progressive way but not so explored. In present study, we report growth and electrical properties of novel ternary alloys In x Bi 2-x Se 3 ( x = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) grown by Direct Vapor Transport technique in which electrical properties of Bi 2 Se 3 are found to be improved upon ‘In’ incorporation. Pellet samples are made from powder of alloy with the help of hydraulic press having pressure 200 kg/cm 2 . Energy Dispersive Analysis of X-ray provided details of constituent elements whereas Powder X-Ray Diffraction revealed higher crystallinity and hexagonal phase of pure and ‘In’ doped Bi 2 Se 3 . The perfectly hexagonal shaped crystals are observed in the SEM images. Thermoelectric and dielectric properties of grown alloys are investigated in which charge storing capacity and Seeback coefficient of pristine bulk Bi 2 Se 3 are found to be improved upon substitutional doping of In. Outcomes of present study declares In x Bi 2-x Se 3 ( x = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) alloys as future energy efficient materials for clean and green energy production.
