Thermo-regulated thermoplastic sugarcane bagasse-based biocomposite via solvent-free extrusion for energy-saving smart home

•Thermoplastic sugarcane bagasse-based room temperature PCM (52 kJ kg−1) composite (TBP-50) is prepared.•TPB-50 shows exceptional thermoprocessability and considerable mechanical performance.•TBP-50-based products show fabulous thermo-regulation ability in bedroom without using air conditioner.•TBP-50 biocomposite exhibits better biodegradability than typical PLA in local soil environment.•The TBP-50 is an ideal choice as decoration and furniture material for thermo-regulation smart homes.
