摘要
•Organic small molecules to engineer Cu catalysts for CO2-CH4 conversion.•An ultrahigh CH4 Faradaic efficiency of 50 % (±2%) at a high operating current density of 220 mA cm−2.•The energy change of the reaction favors the hydrogenation of *CO for the pentacene/Cu/PTFE catalyst.
