Collection of experience on the dismantling of bridges

A large number of bridges need to be modernized to ensure that Germany's well-developed transport infrastructure can continue to meet the demands of steadily increasing traffic volumes in the future. The most far-reaching modernization measure is the construction of new bridges. The main reasons for modernization are the unfavorable age structure of bridge structures, the forecast increase in freight traffic and the rise in disruptive events. Part of the replacement construction is then initially at least a partial deconstruction or complete deconstruction of the old structure. A further complicating factor is that the deconstruction and new construction must be carried out with a minimum of traffic restrictions, and therefore work must often be carried out during ongoing traffic. The aim was to provide the construction authorities with a collection of experience in the dismantling of bridges. The collection of experience represents a first step towards standardization in the dismantling of bridges on federal highways.
