Evaluating the Effective Factors on Social Health of Elementary Teachers in Yazd Zone 1

Introduction: Today, educational system plays a significant role in providing social health for the people in the modern era. Lack of social health in educational personnel of this system can certainly have inappropriate consequences on solidarity and cooperation of future generation as well as the social health. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the teachers' social health and its effective factors. Methods: This survey study was conducted on 300 tutors, teachers, and administrative personnel of an elementary school in Yazd (zone 1), who were selected via simple one stage cluster sampling. In order to collect the study data, a questionnaire was utilized, which were analyzed through SPSS software (ver. 19). Results: The respondents’ social health was reported more than the average. Their social acceptance and social cooperation were placed at the least and most level respectively. Social health has been demonstrated to have a significant positive relationship with such elements as birth place, salary, private home, number of family members, marital and job satisfaction, organizational health of school, students’ average, belief in society health, religiosity, social and emotional support. The study results revealed no significant relationship between social health and age, gender, living location, education, free time satisfaction, use of new information tools, job title, school type, and number of the students. Furthermore, regression model demonstrated that such variables as religiosity, belief in society health, and social support can explain 0.43% of social health variables. Conclusion: The increase in school facilities and teachers’ job satisfaction through creating job security, using teachers’ skills as well as rights and benefits, family counseling services, financial protection and appropriate facilities for needy employees can help improving teachers’ social health.
