An Improved Predictive Current Control Strategy for HS-PMSM Drive System with LCL Filter

This paper presents two novel improved predictive control strategies applied to high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (HS-PMSM) drive system with an external LCL filter. By building mathematical models of HSPMSM drive system with a filter, this paper proposes the new methods based on Deadbeat Predictive Current Control (DPCC) and Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC) respectively. Method I adopts the indirect control of inverter current and adds the conceptual simplicity. Method II adopts the direct control of motor current, which saves sensor devices and reduces steady state errors. This paper studies the resonance damping method to solve LCL circuit resonance problem. The performances of proposed control strategy are analyzed under various HS-PMSM driving conditions. The experimental results verify the correctness of the proposed predictive current control, which ensures the dynamic response capability of the system while maintaining high harmonic attenuation.
