摘要
•This study examines the interplay of caregiver race/ethnicity, income, and education on parenting behaviors that impact long-term child health.•Caregivers of one year old infants report few protective behaviors which reduce the risk of childhood obesity and other adverse health outcomes.•Findings reveal how policies that address poverty and racism may improve early childhood health behaviors.•Study results can be used to inform future interventions that promote healthful behaviors which may prevent early childhood obesity.
