Comparison of beamformer and ICA for dynamic connectivity analysis: A simultaneous MEG-SEEG study

摘要
•Independent component analysis followed by dipolar source localization and linearly constrained minimum-variance beamformer are compared in a controlled simulation framework.•Simultaneous MEG/SEEG data provide a ‘ground truth’ to which non-invasive results can be tested.•Simulation showed that ICA could reconstruct the source activity more accurately, but LCMV-BF was superior in term of localization.•Comparable performances were obtained on real data, suggesting that the two methods can be considered as complementary.•ICA and beamformer applied on MEG recordings can retrieve the dynamic of the interictal activity network.
