The role of Chemerin in human diseases

•Neutrophils recruited early in the inflammatory response further promote inflammation after activation of Chemerin.•Chemerin can promote the production of inflammatory factors in periodontal tissue through the Chemerin/ChemR23 axis, but excessive Chemerin also promotes the absorption of inflammation.•Chemerin can be used as a prognostic marker for gastrointestinal cancer, liver cancer, etc.
