Mitigating Backscattered Light of Stimulated Raman Scattering in OTDR Active Monitoring

摘要
The mitigation of backscattered light of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is proposed and simulated in this paper using long-period fiber Bragg grating (LPFBG). The developed setup allows only the 1650 nm monitoring signal to be received by the optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) while leaving the unwanted signal or noise behind. The LPFBG filter was able to reduce other backscattered signals by around 17 dB, which improves the performance of OTDR active fiber monitoring.
