An Ultrawideband Multicomponents Magnetic Probe With High-Electric-Field Suppression

In this work, a novel broad differential multicomponent magnetic probe with high electric-field suppression is proposed. A differential loop and a shorted-circuit loop were used to simultaneously capture two orthogonal magnetic-field components ( ${H}_{x}$ and ${H}_{y}{)}$ . Via fences in the probe were utilized to prevent unwanted electromagnetic modes. Unlike the traditional methods of increasing the electric-field suppression ratio (Efsr) of the magnetic probe by adding shielding vias, the proposed probe could achieve high electric-field suppression by using the inherent differential and common-mode characteristics. The proposed probe was developed, simulated, measured, and analyzed to verify the rationality of the design. The measured results revealed the proposed probe could simultaneously measure two orthogonal magnetic-field components ( ${H}_{x}$ and ${H}_{y}{)}$ . In addition, the proposed probe had a higher than 35-dB Efsr in the whole frequency band in the ${x}$ -direction and a higher than 15-dB Efsr in the frequency range below 15 GHz in the ${y}$ -direction.
