Location Based Routing in Multi-hop Clustering Based Network Structure of VANET

Vehicular ad-hoc network is emerging as an efficient solution against many significant issues like minimizing accidents, managing traffic and providing comfort services on the road. However, the fast topological changes due to high-speed vehicles are the biggest challenge in reliable and time-bound communication. Clustering improves the stability of the network by minimizing the effect of fast topological changes. The multi-hop clustering category is proven better than single-hop clustering in terms of high cluster coverage and the number of clusters formed. An efficient routing strategy in the network manages effective communication among end-to-end vehicles. We have suggested location-based routing in the existing advanced multi-hop clustering-based network structure. To check the communication performance of our work, we have considered the application where vehicles require services like parking/oil filling station information at a particular location in advance during the journey. The routing performance is evaluated on various important parameters like packet delivery ratio (PDR), routing overhead etc., on different communication ranges of vehicles. This is the first paper presenting routing analysis over a multi-hop cluster-based network structure based on neighborhood following strategy. So our work provides depth analysis and creates the scope for researchers to carry the work at a further stage.
