Replication of distinct trajectories of antidepressant response to intravenous ketamine

•Three distinct antidepressant treatment response trajectories were previously identified within a large, heterogenous, community-based sample of depressed adults receiving IV ketamine treatment.•In a unique sample of adults receiving IV ketamine treatment at a different community-based clinic, the same three distinct antidepressant treatment response trajectories were observed.•Consistent with previous findings, a history of childhood maltreatment was associated with more optimal treatment outcomes for patients reporting a severe level of depression at baseline.•Changes in suicidality (propensity, impulsivity, risk) followed similar patterns of improvement to the antidepressant response trajectories.•Ketamine's effect in patients with severe baseline depression and history of childhood maltreatment may be consistent with ketamine-induced blockade of behavioral sensitization.
