Diffusion-weighted imaging hyperintensity of the striatum or “striatum sign’’ in convulsive status epilepticus

•Status epilepticus (SE) generally induces remote lesions such as the pulvinar sign.•We reported a case of a patient with a remote lesion of the striatum or “striatum sign” post-convulsive SE.•Neuroradiological sign rarely reported in patients with SE.•This sign must be identified and not confounded by a clinician attending to a patient with lenticular and caudate ischemic stroke.
