SCR Power Converter for Driving of Electromagnetic Vibratory Silo Extractor

Vibratory extractors are electromechanical devices which provide the flow of the fine-grained or coarse-grained materials, in order to transport them from a silo or storage containers. By meeting the technological requirements of the discharge, these devices contribute significantly to the overall efficiency of the whole extraction system. The vibratory extractor is usually made of a solid two-piece steel structure. The movable part of the vibratory extractor is supported by solid steel coil springs, with a built-in elastic joint. On the moving part there is a drive vibratory device, usually an electromagnetic vibratory actuator which operates with small linear displacements whose vibration intensity and action are adjusted by an SCR power converter. The paper describes the concretely realized solution of SCR power converter and corresponding voltage controller for driving of electromagnetic vibratory extractor, used for extracting of clinkers (semi-finished product in cement production) from the silo. The applied voltage control provides the intensity of clinkers discharge at the output of the silo bunker, and thus the intensity of extractions. The proposed SCR control was verified by experimental results obtained during exploitation. The presented SCR controller was applied in the cement industry.
