Identification of Acylcarnitine Dysregulation in Atrial Fibrillation and the Role of Circulating Acylcarnitines in Arrhythmogenesis

Remodelling of myocardial metabolism is well-established in atrial fibrillation (AF). Whether this remodelling is reflected in alteration of the circulating metabolome of AF patients is poorly understood. This study aimed to identify serum metabolites dysregulated in AF and to determine the potential for candidate circulating metabolites to contribute to arrhythmogenesis.
