Multi-stage and multi-branch network with similar expressions label distribution learning for facial expression recognition

•We propose a multi-stage and multi-branch model for solving the label uncertainty between similar expressions.•The proposed label distribution learning module can effectively learn the label distribution of similar expressions.•Our proposed model achieves competitive recognition accuracy on two popular wild benchmarks (AffectNet and RAF-DB).
