High-Density Passive Multi-Fiber Assembly to Single-Mode Polymer Waveguides Using Embedded V-grooves for Co-packaged Optics

摘要
We propose a novel high-density multi-fiber passive assembly structure for connecting with polymer waveguides on a substrate. A novel high-density lid ferrule holding 12 bare single mode fibers is attached to single mode polymer waveguides which are formed on an embedded high precision 12 v-grooved silicon chip as a receptacle. The developed fiber ferrule realizes high density of 5 mm x 6 mm x 0.3 mm-t. The prototype of the proposing fiber array assembly shows the average connecting loss of 1.45 dB.
