Profiling and spatial distribution of phenolic compounds in rapeseed by two-step extraction strategy and targeted metabolomics combined with chemometrics

•Two-step extraction strategy was proposed to extract phenolics from rapeseed.•Two-step extraction strategy had advantages in both phenolic profile and content.•TSES-LC-MS/MS was proved to be efficient for rapeseed phenolic profiling.•Phenolic compounds varied in rapeseeds with different seed coat color.•Spatial distribution of phenolic compounds showed significant variations.
