Experimental research on submarine cable monitoring method based on MEMS sensor

In the context of the global energy internet, ocean power transmission has become the preferred method between coastal cities in various countries. However, it is easy to destroy the submarine cable due to anchoring, thus affecting the long-term use. Therefore, early detection of hidden dangers and timely maintenance can effectively reduce the huge cost of cable failure. In this article, we introduce a monitoring system based on MEMS-IMU to evaluate the possible damage of the submarine cable. Firstly, we give the structure of the system and the process of judging the health status. Secondly, we build the mathematical model to reconstruct the cable shape and analyze the torsion. Finally, experiments are conducted to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of the method.
