摘要
Carbon management is a critical component of wetland management, underscoring its dual contributions to climate mitigation and conservation of ecological functions and properties. In this chapter, we present a brief summary of the previous 24 chapters, which have described the concept and conditions of the carbon cycle in different wetlands, examples and lessons of carbon management, and synthesis of the current science and linkage with management and policies. Going forward, we recommend research priorities based on consensus of the literature, including integration of simulation models, guidance for projection of carbon and other greenhouse gases in wetland restoration, applications of remote sensing, coupling measurements and analyses of carbon and water balances, collaborations between carbon cycle scientists and wetland managers, and consideration of the wetland carbon cycle in a broader landscape continuum.
