On the stationary stochastic response of an order-constrained inventory system

•We study a base stock inventory system where the order quantity is constrained from one side.•The model has wide real-world applications, including forbidden returns, minimum order quantity and capacity limits.•Orders and inventories follow a mixture of truncated and convoluted demand distributions.•A state space algorithm efficiently computes the statistical properties of these variables.•The constraint can be set to improve the operational and financial performance of the system.
