A Single-Stage AC/DC Converter With Wide Output Voltage Range

Traditional single-phase AC/DC converter requires two conversion stages to control the output voltage and achieve power factor correction respectively. A large electrolytic capacitor is commonly adoptedly to stabilize DC bus voltage. This paper suggests a single-stage AC/DC converter based on asymmetrical dual active bridge converter. It integrates the PFC circuit and the DC/DC stage into one stage and reduce the value of DC-bus capacitor. To realize wide output voltage range, this paper investigates the operating modes and the condition of smoothly switching in different modes. The operating principle and the design of the controller are detailed analyzed. Finally, simulation results are carried out to verify the feasibility of the converter.
