Study on the trajectory of magnetic particles in the process of magnetorheological elastomer pre-structure

•The trajectory and rotation angle of a pair of circular magnetic particles of equal radius are symmetric.•The rotation of the magnetic particles during the assembly process has little effect on the trajectory.•The trajectory of a magnetic particle is only related to the direction of the magnetic force.•The trajectory of a magnetic particle is perpendicular to the curve where the magnetic component is zero.
