摘要

•SARS-CoV-2 gene copies were diluted in sewers in line with increasing flow rates.•Use of passive samplers can detect >2 COVID-19 infection cases per 10,000 people.•Upstream sampling revealed spatiotemporal trends of COVID-19 spread within a city.•Positive virus signals in wastewater appeared 1 week before clinical confirmation.
