Evidence of specialized resource exploitation by Modern Humans in Western Iberia associated to Pleistocene and Holocene extreme environmental conditions

•Poço Rock shelter is in a canyon at the western coast of central Iberia.•Human occupations fall in the harsh climatic moments of LGM and Bond Event 6.•The LGM corresponds to Solutrean and the Bond Event 6 to Epipaleolithic.•Solutrean is related to a chert outcrop and the Epipaleolithic with shellfish.•The exploitation of specific resources seems to be related to the harsh events.
