1-mJ multi-kHz nanosecond pulses from a single-crystal Yb:LiLuF4 amplifier seeded by a passively-Q-switched laser

摘要

•Single-crystal fiber (SCF) Yb:LLF was grown by micro-pulling-down.•SCF Yb:LLF amplifier was tested with a passively Q-switched Yb:YLF laser.•At 90 W absorbed power, 130-μJ and 110-ns pulses at 5.2 kHz were amplifiied to 1 mJ.•Results prove excellent quality and promising performance of the SCF amplifier.•Full as well as simplified numerical models of the amplifier are reported.
