Characterization of stiffness of micro-particle trapped in dielectrophoretic-microfluidic device

Isolation of bioparticles in a controlled manner is an integral step in a wide range of biomedical applications. Electro-kinetics based particle separation techniques such as dielectrophoresis offers a viable method for label free, contactless isolation and separation of micro- and nano-sized particles from fluid. We present a dielectrophoretic-microfluidic device to trap micro- and nano-sized particles based on their physical and dielectric properties using negativedielectrophoretic force. The trapping device consists of circular shape traps on a chromium electrode. The developed microfluidic trapping device has been validated with numerical simulation and trapping micro- and nano-sized spherical polystyrene particles.
