Assessing SO 2 , NO 2 and O 3 in rural areas of the North West Province

Introduction Anthropogenic activities are increasing the ambient tropospheric concentrations of inorganic gaseous pollutants, which include nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and ozone (O3). These species are globally considered as important pollutants and are criteria pollutants according to the South African National Environment Management: Air Quality Act of 2004 (Government Gazette 2005).
