Packet Reorder Delayed Response Method For Multipath Transmission

This paper proposes a delayed retransmission response for PR-R solution, which mitigates the influence of the packet reordering problem on the overall throughput of multipath TCP. The proposed method maintains the size of the congestion window when three duplicate acknowledgments are received to avoid unnecessary reductions in the transmission rate, and delays triggering the fast retransmission phase of the congestion control within the period of the retransmission timeout. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been evaluated using NS-3 network simulator, considering different wireless scenarios, and compared with the original PR-R solution. The results show that the proposed method reduces the retransmission overhead on the network and the size of the out-of-order buffer.
