Outcomes for non-operatively managed fracture neck of femur patients: A single-institution study

•Non-operative management can be considered in a small select subgroup of hip fracture patients with minimally displaced, stable fractures.•Patients that mobilise comfortably on admission, non-operative management results in mortality outcomes and LOS comparable to NHFD data.•The majority of patients comfortably mobilising are able to avoid operative intervention; 82% did not require surgery.•Poor outcomes for non-operative management are skewed by a patient cohort with multiple medical comorbidities and high anaesthetic risk.
