Epidemiological and spatio-temporal characteristics of COVID-19 in Rwanda

•The COVID-19 pandemic occurred in two waves in Rwanda.•The pandemic showed a heterogenous spatial distribution across districts.•The Rwandan government implemented various health measures and policies.•These measures aided decrease in COVID-19 transmission within and between districts.•Inter-/intra-organization engagement is vital for effective control of the pandemic.
