•Analysis of 182 patients with cervical cancer FIGO(2009) stage IB1 (≤4 cm).•None of the patients with a combination of risk factors according to Sedlis underwent adjuvant radiotherapy.•Sedlis criteria did not predict recurrence.•LVSI was the only risk factor for survival.
