Integrated tool lifecycle

The tool lifecycle controls the flow of cutting tool data, as well as the flow of physical items through production. During this process several data interruptions occur, caused by lack of connectivity between different layers and entities. This paper offers two proposal for solution: First, solving the technological linkage issue between presetting device and machine tool. Second, the digital process transformation of the tool lifecycle by using newly accessible data. To realize the linkage a communication scheme was developed using an OPC UA Server-Server architecture. Combining those two objectives, a tool net requirement with data directly from the machine tool can be offered.
