Extracorporeal shockwave therapy improves pain and function in subjects with knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials

•Extracorporeal shock wave therapy is a non-invasive and safe therapy for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.•Extracorporeal shock wave therapy decreases pain and improves function in patients with knee osteoarthritis.•Doses of medium energetic density obtained better results than low or high density in WOMAC and VAS scales.
