Design and Implementation Aspects of the Sheshan 13-m Radio Telescope

Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) is an essential and supporting technique for the realization of terrestrial and celestial reference frames, the state-of-the-art unique technique to precisely determine all dimensional Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP). The design and implementation aspects of the Sheshan 13-m radio telescope is described in this paper concerning the key components of the system including the antenna, cryogenic receiver, up-down converter, data acquisition and time frequency devices, monitoring and control software. Some preliminary results of typical systematic performance and fringe checking are presented. However, some technique issues require further discussion and investigation and the whole system requires much more testing and improvement.
