Paleoproterozoic multiphase magmatism and metamorphism recorded in metamorphic basement rocks of the northern Altyn Tagh, southeastern Tarim Craton

•The amphibolite and felsic gneiss represent the typical bimodal association.•The felsic gneisses bear a geochemical resemblance to high-SiO2 adakites.•The Paleoproterozoic rocks suggest a subduction-related tectonic setting.•The Paleoproterozoic magmatism and metamorphism are nearly synchronous.
