Forensic postmortem computed tomography in suspected unnatural adult deaths

•Agreement between CT and autopsy improved through consideration of toxicological and histological findings.•Strength of CT were detection of air embolism, pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, emphysema, and facial bone fractures.•Weaknesses of CT were identification of acute heart failure, intoxication, pneumonia, fatal bleeding, and cuts and stab wounds.
