Material requirement Planning (MRP) is the process of determining the detailed order release policy for parts, components and material needed to produce end products to a required production plan at minimum total cost. The objective of this paper is to present a method to generate optimised MRP solutions using the genetic algorithm to multiproduct, multi-period lot-sizing problems with supplier discounts/deals and storage capacity limitations.
