摘要
•There are very few studies on incidence of hypertension from developing countries, especially from India.•Higher body weight, BMI, age and glucose intolerance were significantly associated with incident hypertension.•Individuals with prediabetes and/or diabetes at baseline, had higher incident rates of hypertension on follow up.•Prehypertension, dysglycemia, central obesity and physical inactivity accounted for 87% of incident hypertension.
