Nanosecond-pulsed laser welding of metallic glass

•A welding parameter map of metallic glasses has been established.•Nanosecond laser can weld metallic-glass ribbons in the air without crystallization.•Critical crystallization time can be quickly determined in a high-throughput way.•70–90% of the tensile strength of the parent melt-spun ribbon can be preserved.
