Particle fluctuating motions induced by gas-solid phase reaction

•A novel particle fluctuating motion in gas-solid reaction is studied.•The fluctuating velocity of particles increased with the combustion temperature.•Irregular microstructure leads to the fluctuating motions.•Nonuniform distribution of active sites lead to the fluctuating motions.•The average fluctuating velocity of particles follows the Arrhenius equation.
