IMPACT OF FLOW-DYNAMICS ON DEVICE RELATED THROMBOSIS AFTER LEFT ATRIAL APPENDAGE OCCLUSION

Abstract The present report describes a case of recurrent device related thrombosis after left atrial appendage occlusion. Since the thrombus always located below the pulmonary ridge, flow turbulence was felt to be a relevant factor on its generation. Using CT to evaluate flow dynamics, two simulations were run and showed that the presence of flow turbulence might explain the thrombus recurrence.
