•Soil WEOC and DIN concentrations were larger in the meadow than in the forests.•Vegetation and soil characteristics played critical roles in WEOC and DIN dynamics.•A significantly positive correlation was found between WEOC and DIN concentrations.•WEOC and DIN concentrations varied with season and vegetation type under warming.
