•Chiral molecularly imprinted polymers (CMIPs) were prepared via click reaction firstly.•Heterochiral selectivity was found in the recognition of CMIPs.•CMIP-coating exhibited good chiral recognition ability in water solution.•CMIP-coating was successfully used for chiral micropollutant analysis in PPCPs.
