A Mechanism for Copyright Protection under Information-Centric Networking

Despite the huge advancements in Internet technologies, progress in protecting copyright infringements has seen limited success. This is mainly due to the current Internet architecture that is based on a content-blind network layer. We argue that Information-Centric Networking can indeed help tackle this problem. Further, we propose a scheme to enforce copyrights distribution under ICN. The proposed scheme is demonstrated under DONA architecture. The proposal utilizes similarity hash function mechanism to prevent the distribution of pirated material even if it was reproduced or modified. We evaluate the proposed scheme using a number of similarity hash function techniques.
